“The movement needs a long-term plan to change public opinion about LGBT people, once and for all. Face Value is just that plan, and its outcome will strengthen our existing organizations and current political efforts.”
- Roberta Achtenberg, the first openly lesbian or gay public official nominated by a U.S. president.

Our mission is to create a society that fully embraces the LGBT community and its values

Face Value is a long-term strategy to change public opinion about LGBT people. Face Value is not an effort to gain rights within a political cycle. It is a large and necessary undertaking to gain support for LGBT people by conducting new research, building coalitions, and ultimately launching a public education campaign.

In the broadest terms, Face Value seeks to create a society:

  • Where parents embrace their LGBT sons and daughters, just as they are, and nurture them to become healthy, confident adults – as they would with their non-gay children.
  • Where loving, same-sex couples can walk down the street holding hands and attract smiles instead of scorn.
  • Where “gay is good” is no longer a Stonewall era slogan, but an ingrained societal belief.
